Doctor Castro Benites was Chairman of the Colegio de Abogados del Guayas in 1973. For his notoruis work in and out of the country we was awarded unnumered recognitions such as: the decoration of the Colegio de Abogados del Distrito Federal de Caracas; declared as Honorary Member of the Spanish Bar, february 16 of 1979, by resolution fo the Consejo General de la Abogacía Española; Member by number of the Unión Latinoamericana de Abogados; Memeber of the Unión Internacional de Abogados Interamerican Bar Association; Diploma of Honor awarded by the National Bar Association of Panama; Founding Member of the Unión Iberoamericana de Colegios de Agrupaciones de Abogados, based in Madrid ; decoration of the Bar of Bolivia ; Founder and President of the Confederation of Lawyers of the Andean Countries , among others.
He is a member of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana; member of the Academia de Abogados de Quito y Guayaquil; honorary member of the Federación de Argentina de Colegios de Abogados and the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de México.
He has been honored several times by the Colegio de Abogados del Guayas and the Federación de Abogados del Ecuador, on the grounds that his life and career ” is an example for new generations.”
He has been profesor of the School of Law at the Universidad de Guayaquil and the Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. Was Dean of the school of law of the Universidad de Guayaquil when that celebrated its 100th anniversary and also, acting Principal of the Universidad de Guayaquil.
For his merits as a lawyer , university professor and civic conduct , it has been decorated by the Muy Ilustre Municipalidad de Guayaquil and the Gobierno Nacional de la República del Ecuador with the decorations of the Orden Nacional al Mérito en el Grado de Comendador y Gran Oficial, in periods of Presidents Doctors Jaime Roldós Aguilera and Gustavo Noboa Bejarano; the Government of Spain granted the Cruz de Honor de la Orden de San Raymundo de Peñafort; the Government of Venezuela decorated him with the Orden Francisco de Miranda, in the first class , among other important public and institutional recognition within and outside the country.
It has also been chosen by six times as Member of the Honorable Congreso Nacional de la República del Ecuador, in representation of Guayas and El Oro. He was Senator of the Republic and Vice President of the Chamber of the Senate. Member of the H. Consejo de Estado. Candidate for the vice presidency in binomial with Don Galo Plaza Lasso. For its unconditional defense of democracy and fight against dictatorship , in 1965 , he was banished to the Republic of Paraguay , where he lived as a political refugee. He was a member of the Asamblea Nacional Constituyente of 1997.
He is 92 years old and still practices his profession in the field of civil law.
